Our Core Values:
1. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is central to all teaching.
a. We believe that all are sinners, falling short of God’s glory. God has demonstrated his love toward us in sending His Son, Jesus Christ to die for us. Jesus’ death upon the cross paid our sin debt before God. Jesus’ resurrection from the dead demonstrates His power over sin and over death. Therefore, a man is saved by grace through faith, not of works. It is this good news that provides the reason and purpose for men to lead.
2. Scripture-Driven Messages
a. It is our belief that what men need is to hear and do God’s Word. We endeavor to preach God’s Word in ways that make much of Him. It is the Word of God that has the power to change lives.
3. Equipping Over Entertaining
a. The best use of a man’s time is to fill it with that which will reap the most benefit for the kingdom of God. Therefore, we will strive to keep the equipping of men priority through preaching, prayer, worship, testimonies, and personal interaction. With that being said, we will have fun in the process.
4. Intentionally Intergenerational
a. In our lives, we are surrounded by men of all ages. The Lord desires us to value each generation and to learn from and with one another. We will encourage the elders to interact with the young and vice versa.
5. Biblical Definitions
a. We believe God defines genders, meaning that God assigns people at the time of fertilization a gender of either male or female and this is manifest biologically at birth. Both males and females are equal in value before God but are given different roles according to scripture.
b. We believe God defines marriage, meaning that marriage is between a biological man and a biological woman as designated at birth.
c. We believe God defines race, meaning that there is one human race, all descendants of Adam and therefore equal in value before God and us.
6. The Church
a. We believe the Church is people who are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. The Church regularly gathers together and is the primary means through which God is working in our world today to bring people to salvation. Therefore, we encourage regular, intentional involvement in a Bible-believing church.
Our History
Building God’s Man Conference (BGMC) began in 2011 as small men’s retreat for the men of the Christian Church of Rural Grove in Sprakers, NY. The vision was and remains today to be equipping men for godly leadership. After a few years, other pastors asked if their churches could also be involved. So beginning in 2013, BGMC was born. This conference has become a time of challenge and refreshment for men year after year. We have had various speakers throughout the years including local pastors and other men who have demonstrated a love for God’s Word and a passion to see men lead. BGMC is now organized by a group of likeminded pastors who desire to see this conference have an even greater impact in our region.
Our Goals
Why do a men’s conference? It is our belief that God has called men to be leaders in their homes, their churches, and their communities. With this in mind, we desire to set aside 23 hours of intentional exposure of men to the Scriptures that they might be equipped and engaged in God’s calling to lead.
Who We Are
The Building God’s Man Conference is an equipping ministry of the Christian Church of Rural Grove with assistance from several other likeminded churches in the Mohawk Valley of central New York state.
